Medallas, fotografías de viajes y placas de reconocimiento cuelgan de las paredes de la casa habitada por un transexual que prefiere identificarse como Martha, y su hijo de crianza, Kevin.

Las medallas han sido obtenidas por el joven, quien ha representado al país en competencias como las Olimpiadas Especiales de Atenas 2011.

Kevin vive con Martha desde que tenía ocho meses en un barrio del sur de Guayaquil. Ahora, a sus 22 años, dice que Martha es su padre y madre. Aunque afirma conocer el verdadero sexo de “Pepe”, como llama a quien considera su padre.

Martha es un transexual de larga cabellera negra y ensortijada; y abultado busto y cadera que le hacen ver como una mujer. Pero no se hace la operación para el cambio de sexo, por lo que en su cédula aparece con la identificación de Pedro.

Kevin fue abandonado por su madre biológica. Fue allí cuando el padre biológico decide entregárselo a Martha, “Su papá había sido mi expareja, pero después se unió a una mujer y nació Kevin. Sus padres eran alcohólicos”, afirma Martha.

En la cédula, Kevin, quien tiene 40% de discapacidad mental, aparece como el hijo del hermano de Martha y su cuñada.

Esto preocupa a Martha, ya que Kevin no recibiría como herencia la casa que ella tiene en caso de que fallezca. “Yo misma le conté quien era cuando (Kevin) tenía 9 años y me lo preguntó. Él tiene su enamorada y busca trabajo”, afirma Martha.
